I've been an in-house Junior Designer for just under a year and six months, It's gone very quickly and I've learnt a tonne! Here's 7 in "house rules" in the form of type based posters I've picked up over the course of this time.
1. Just get over this now. They're going to make it look easy, it's not. It will take time, but we'll get there!
2. Kern it til it fits! I know, what would all your old lecturers say...
3. As upsetting as it can be when your design isn't received as you'd hope tears won't help.
4. When particular design rules have been set in place you try so hard to stick to them they hinder the design,
so bend them, I dare ya.
5. Suppliers are a little different! Nothing worse than going back and fourth over email for approval,
so we'll let them off for now.
6. Don't be a hater. Speaks for itself.
7. Last but not least just get it wrong! It's going to happen sooner or later Try and fail, get the rubbish designs out the way.
